At Prime we are passionate about supporting the New Zealand wine industry, and rightly so – our pinot noir, pinot gris, chardonnay, sauvignon blanc and reisling producers are highly skilled, putting our wines on the world stage where they win medals alongside some of the industry’s most established names.

Here in Central Otago, the producers are releasing wines of a consistently high calibre and on our winelist you’ll find some of the region’s best.

We have an extensive selection of Central Otago wines including Mt Difficulty, Hawkdun Rise, Wooing Tree, Chard Farm, Gibbston Valley Wines, Akarua, Rockburn, Kalex, The Arrrow River and Brennan.

Aside from Central Otago, New Zealand’s other wine regions are well represented. You’ll find light, aromatic sauvignon blancs from Marlborough and Canterbury.  There is a gewürztraminer from Hawkes Bay and chardonnays from Gisborne and Nelson. There are "bigger" reds such as Merlot/Cabernet from Pegasus Bay in Waipara, Ata Rangi Celebre from Martinborough and Hawkes Bay's Te Mata and Delegates.

We appreciate that our guests may like to order wines from further afield, so you’ll also find viognier, syrah, semillon and merlot from Australia.  Naturally we also stock champagnes, fortified wines and dessert wines from France.

Our team will be pleased to recommend the most appropriate wine to match and enhance the flavours of your meal.

If you’d like to start your evening with a drink at our bar or on our balcony, we have an extensive selection of tap and bottled beers, including the South Island’s own Monteith’s range.  There’s also the well-known Export Gold and Steinlager Pure in addition to the international labels of Heineken, Tiger, Crown and Amstel.

Spirits are also available with the Absolut, 42Below and Grey Goose vodka range available neat  or in some very imaginative cocktails. We stock some of the highest quality whiskey and single-malts as well as bourbon, tequila, gin and rum.

BYO Tuesdays

While Prime is a fully-licenced restaurant, we appreciate that diners occasionally wish to bring their own special bottle of wine. We have recently launched BYO Tuesday when we invite diners to bring their own bottle of wine for a reasonable $5 corkage. Please note that this offer is available to single-table bookings and not for functions. Nor can this offer be combined with other discounts or special offers.
